Another Threat To Your Semi-Autos

Another Push to Ban Semi-Autos Coming Soon
— Rep. Paul steps up in defense of gun owners

Gun Owners of America has remained on the front lines of the gun debate during the last two weeks, defending the right to keep and bear semi-automatic firearms and magazines.

Last week, The Washington Post quoted from a recent GOA alert when it reported on this issue.

And when CNN invited GOA to debate the semi-auto ban, GOA Communications Director Erich Pratt sparred with a spokesman from the Brady Campaign (formerly known as Handgun Control, Inc.).

At the grassroots level, GOA has launched a postcard/letter campaign to put the heat on legislators and the White House, letting them know there are millions of Americans who oppose infringements of their Second Amendment rights.

But as the battle to block the reauthorization of the semi-auto ban continues to wage within our own borders, a sinister effort continues from without. In early June, the United Nations will be sponsoring a global “Week of Action Against Small Arms.”

“Small arms” as defined by UN documents refers to many of the revolvers, pistols and rifles that millions of Americans already own.

Lawrence Auster is a Newsmax.com reporter who covered a similar UN gun control conference in 2001. He says the disarmament agenda at the UN is so blatant that it “unembarrassedly admits that it wants to strip small arms from all non-government individuals [like you] because the possession of such weapons allows people to oppose the UN itself.”

This upcoming disarmament conference is just another U.N. attempt to pressure member states like the U.S. to adopt more stringent gun controls.

And once again, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) is stepping up in defense of gun owners. He has introduced H.R. 1146, a bill to withdraw the U.S. from the United Nations, and he is currently petitioning the House leadership to schedule a vote on his bill.

“The U.S. House routinely spends 15 minutes re-naming post offices,” Paul said. “It should spend 15 minutes to answer the question an increasing number of Americans are asking: Should the United States continue to support the United Nations?”

Rep. Paul is sponsoring a citizen’s petition drive in an attempt to garner national support in favor of his bill. You can go to http://www.Just15.org to sign his petition in favor of H.R. 1146.

As the UN has been active in advocating gun control in member-states, Paul’s bill would do several things, including:

* Repealing the acts authorizing U.S. participation in the United Nations, UNESCO, WHO, and other UN agencies, conventions, and agreements;

* Repealing the agreement authorizing the UN headquarters in New York, throwing the UN out of government facilities, and revoking its diplomatic immunity; and

* Prohibiting U.S. appropriations from supporting UN operations or “peacekeeping” efforts.

ACTION: Please go to http://www.Just15.org and sign the petition in favor of H.R. 1146. Rep. Paul’s bill would preserve our sovereignty and protect our rights — especially our Second Amendment rights — by removing us from under the UN’s illegitimate jurisdiction. The petition deadline is one month from today (June 23, 2003).
