One Church Responds To School Violence

One Church Responds To School Violence

Unfolded, the front and back “bullets” take on a stone tablet shape, with the following words printed on the inside.

“I never thought this would happen.”

The question that arises after a school shooting is, “Why did this happen?” Nobody seems to know. Experts give opinions. They say that kids who shoot kids are victims themselves. They say that they have been hurt, and therefor harbor hatred which manifests itself in a murderous rage.

But there is another reason kids kill kids. In the 1960’s, authorities saw fit to remove the Ten Commandments from the walls of our schools. It seems that they didn’t like our youth being given moral guidelines, such as “You shall not lie,” “You shall not steal,” and “You shall not kill.”

No doubt they thought that they were liberating a generation. It worked. We now have a generation who feels that they have the liberty to lie, steal, and even kill, without qualms of conscience. We, as a nation, must bear some of the responsibility for school shootings. After all, who is to blame when moral light is removed– those who remove the light, or those who stumble in the darkness?

A wise man once said, “First, I fear God. Next, I fear him who fears Him not.” To “fear” God means to judge every thought and action in the light of God’s approval or disapproval. The First Commandment. “I am the Lord your God, you shall have no other gods before Me” means that we should love God above all else, and love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves. Someone who fears God will not lie to, steal from, or kill his neighbor. But a person who doesn’t fear God will esteem his own happiness to be of greater importance than God’s favor. He will lie, steal and even commit murder.

There are more than 200,000 people who could attest to that fact… if they were still alive. That’s how many have been murdered in the United States in the last ten years– 200,000 people.

Have you loved God and put Him first in your life? Have you lied or stolen? Be brutally honest about your past sins, because the Bible says that on Judgement Day they will be used as evidence against us. We will even be judged for our “idle” words. Jesus said that if we have looked with lust, we have committed adultery in our heart. If we haved hated someone, we have committed murder as far as God is concerned. Think of it, if God judges us by that standard, we will be found guilty and end up in Hell.

God, however, doesn’t want any to perish. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the Cross, so that we could be free from His wrath. It’s as simple as this– we broke God’s Law, and Jesus paid our fine. God commended His love towards us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. The He rose from the dead and defeated death. The moment you repent and trust in Him, God will forgive you for your sins, and grant you the gift of everlasting life. Do it today (you may not have tomorrow), then read the Bible daily and obey what you read… God will never let you down.

Gun Owners Go to School

In Milwaukee, concerned gun owners are going to school, but not with guns.

After schools opened during the fall of 1999, members of a Milwaukee church developed an unusual outreach to the kids as they were entering area schools.

The man behind this effort is Matt Trewhella, a GOA member and pastor of the non-denominational Mercy Seat Christian Church in Milwaukee.

God and Guns in the Schools

Trewhella’s church purchased bullet-shaped religious tracts entitled “How Can We Stop the Bloodshed?” The tracts dealt with the removal of God from the schools and reasons why the Bible has the answer to the murder and violence of men’s heart.

That alone probably would have upset the local authorities.

But what really insured that they would condemn the Mercy Seat’s outreach was the inclusion of a flyer entitled “Never Disarm” (see below) which quotes America’s founders on the importance of being armed, as well as current information about guns and young people.

Included in the flyer was the contact information for GOA and for Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership.

Authorities Up in Arms

The Sheriff of Waukesha County, William Kruziki, said: “These people have no business handing 14-year olds information about guns while they’re at school.”

The Sheriff is evidently unaware that not long ago it was legal for 13- and 14-year olds to buy rifles at a hardware store. And the problem of school violence was far less than it is today.

One County School Board member, William Domina, said: “To stand out in front of a public school where young people are entering and to promote guns is an atrocity.”

Mr. Domina overlooks the atrocities committed against unarmed people in this country and abroad.

And last but not least the Milwaukee Sentinel editorialized against the literature distribution with a headline reading “Pro-gun fliers, schools don’t mix.”

“Now, how’s that for academic freedom?” responded GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt.

“The editors of the Sentinel would rather leave students in the dark about what the founding fathers had to say. The fact is, guns save lives; and rather than demonizing these objects, adults should instead by teaching teenagers how to properly handle firearms,” Pratt said.

Never Disarm!

Many so-called “experts” are trying to tell us that guns are to be blamed for the various shootings at high schools across America. They are telling people that “Children have more access to guns today than they did in the past.” This is a myth and utter nonsense (that’s why they never offer any proof for what they claim). The truth is children had far more access to guns in the past than they do today. Before the 1968 Gun Control Act was passed by Congress, children had far more access to guns, yet we didn’t see the senseless shootings that are taking place at high schools today.

Perhaps guns are not the problem. Perhaps it is the heart of man. Perhaps it is a nation of people who live in rebellion to God’s Law and refuse His great Salvation.

Many in the news media and Hollywood, and even certain politicians, are trying to convince the American people that they should disarm, or at least register all those who have arms. America’s Founding Fathers viewed the right to bear arms as a God-given right. They wanted an armed citizenry for three reasons: 1. to help repel invaders; 2. to help put down unlawful insurrections; and, 3. to act as a check against tyranny in our own government.

Gun Quotes From America’s Founding Fathers

“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in the government.” — Thomas Jefferson

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed– unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” — James Madison

“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.” — Richard Henry Lee

“The great object is that every man be armed.” — Patrick Henry

The 2nd Amendment was not established for duck hunting, but for freedom!
We must not shirk our right to defend ourselves and place it in the hands of the State.
Free men living in a free society are always to be armed.
Gun control = enslavement I Samuel 13:19-22

When you read history, you see that
TYRANTS PREFER UNARMED CITIZENS
“Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.” — Thomas Jefferson
