Miss. House considers narrower sales tax break for guns

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – –Mississippi House members are now eyeing a narrower sales tax holiday for guns, ammunition, bows, arrows and accessories.

The House Ways and Means Committee passed House Bill 1404 Monday. It would create the Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday, which would occur on the first Saturday and Sunday of September.

It does not remove sales tax on some items covered by an earlier bill, including boats, all-terrain vehicles and clothing. It does include hearing protection, firearm and archery cases, accessories and holsters.
