On May 15th, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin celebrated American guns with a tweet about how an AR-15 makes a great gift.

Palin wrote: “Innovation found only in the USA! You know, an AR-15 makes a great gift. What more says, ‘I love you’?”

Palin is spot on regarding American “innovation.” Other popular semi-automatic rifles, like the AK-47 or SKS, have their origins in Russia, China, or former Soviet bloc countries, but the AR-15 is an American gun.
