Why do Republicans seem to keep losing? GOA founder and chairman Sen. H.L "Bill" Richardson (Ret.) answers that question in the book "Confrontational Politics." During 22 years of legislative experience, Sen. Richardson found that the only thing that got things done was confrontation. Readers of "Confrontational Politics" will understand the keys to political victory and also learn about the lobbying philosophy that has earned GOA's reputation as the only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington.Click here to order your copy today for only $9.95.
New Hampshire on the Verge of Passing Constitutional Carry
-- House-passed bill to be voted on in the Senate soon
New Hampshire could soon become one of the most pro-gun states in the country – a sanctuary where the Constitution is paramount and Americans don’t need the government’s permission to exercise their God-given rights.
The bill is House Bill 536, sponsored by...
Constitutional Carry in the Old Dominion Virginia Delegate Mark Cole (R-District 88) is the lead sponsor of legislation to eliminate a requirement that gun owners must have a government permit to carry a concealed firearm. About the dinner speakers:
Nikki Haley, one of the strongest fiscal c
onservatives in state government, was first elected to represent the 87th District in Lexington County in 2004, when, as a virtual unknown she beat the longest serving state legislator in a Republican primary. In 2008 Representative Haley was sent back to the statehouse with 83 percent of the vote – the highest percentage earned by any lawmaker facing a contested South Carolina election that year. She won the Republican Party nomination for governor of South Carolina on Tuesday, June 22, 2010.
"Few things are as clearly defined as the right of individual Americans to own and use firearms. The right to bear arms was deemed so critical by our Founders that they spelled it out in absolute terms, and it is my belief that any governmental action that undermines that right is in turn undermining the very freedoms that built our great nation. I hold a Concealed Weapons Permit myself, and in this state we have issues that make it difficult for CWP holders to rightfully carry – we need to make the rules that govern carrying far more simple. As governor, I will continue to fight against any government infringement on the 2nd Amendment."
Congressman Joe Wilson has represented South Carolina's Second District since 2001.
During his time in Congress, Rep. Wilson has consistently earned an "A+" rating from GOA, one of only a small handful of members to earn such a score. Rep. Wilson will also receive a “Friend of the Second Amendment Award” for his pro-gun leadership in the United States Congress and for his willingness to stand up to those who work to take away our Constitutional freedoms.
In addition to cosponsoring pro-gun legislation such as a measure to allow for interstate recognition of concealed carry permits, Rep. Wilson also authored legislation that would protect individuals who successfully defend themselves or others from violent attack, only to find themselves in the clutches of anti-gun prosecutors.
Following the 2001 terrorist attacks, Rep. Wilson strongly supported arming commercial airline pilots. A bill was passed to do just that, but anti-gun legislators watered down the bill by limiting its provisions only to passenger aircraft, leaving cargo planes still vulnerable to terrorist takeover. In response, Rep. Wilson authored a bill and successfully pushed legislation to allow all commercial pilots to carry firearms. Further, when TSA government bureaucrats dragged their feet once armed pilots became the law of the land, Wilson authored yet another bill that streamlined the certification process.
Larry Pratt has been Executive Director of Gun Owners of America for 36 years. GOA is a national membership organization of 300,000 Americans dedicated to promoting their Second Amendment freedom to keep and bear arms.
Pratt has appeared on numerous national radio and TV programs such as NBC's Today Show, CBS' Good Morning America, CNN's Crossfire and Larry King Live, Fox's Hannity and Colmes and Glenn Beck, and many others. He has debated Congressman James Traficant, Jr. (D-OH), Charles Rangel (D-NY), Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), and Vice President Al Gore, among others. His columns have appeared in newspapers across the country.
He published a book, Armed People Victorious, in 1990 and was editor of a book, Safeguarding Liberty: The Constitution & Militias, 1995. His latest book, On the Firing Line: Essays in the Defense of Liberty was published in 2001.
Jim Pratt is a candidate for Congress in South Carolina's 6th District. He is taking on 18-year incumbent Jim Clyburn, one of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's chief deputies in the Congress.
A Tea Party activist and successful businessman, this is Jim's first run for public office. Jim is a staunch Second Amendment supporter who will not only oppose any new gun control laws, but he will also fight to repeal unconstitutional laws already on the books.
