GOA Applauds Passage of Buck Amd. to Restore Gun Owners’ Rights

GOA Applauds Passage of Buck Amendment

For Immediate Release
September 13, 2017

Springfield, VA –  Executive Director of Gun Owners of America (GOA) Erich Pratt praised the passage of Rep. Ken Buck’s (R-CO) amendment which allows for restoration of Second Amendment rights.

“Gun Owners of America is pleased to see the passage of the Buck amendment, which allows individuals to petition the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) for the restoration of their gun rights. Nonviolent Americans should not be deprived of the right to self-defense because of a decades old mistake.”

Pratt’s words are echoed by Rep. Buck, who stated

“The fate of your Second Amendment rights shouldn’t depend on one youthful mistake. We need to give Americans a chance to petition for the restoration of their right to bear arms, so that parents have the opportunity to protect their families and so that grandparents can once again go hunting with their grandkids.”

Pratt noted GOA’s longstanding record of protecting gun rights, stating, “GOA has supported this amendment in the past, and we remain committed to defending the Second Amendment rights of all honest Americans.”

According to Rep. Buck’s office, this amendment was included successfully yesterday, by voice vote, in an appropriations bill (H.R. 3354).

Erich Pratt, or another GOA spokesperson, is available for interviews. Gun Owners of America is a nonprofit lobbying organization dedicated to protecting the right to keep and bear arms without compromise. GOA represents over 1.5 million members and activists.
