Time to Renew Efforts for Getting Reciprocity Passed

Dear Friend:

It seems that Congress has lost its way.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has now refused to bring up concealed carry reciprocity for 47 straight weeks.

He’s ignored reciprocity, even though a whopping 73% of the American adults support the Second Amendment right to keep and BEAR arms.

Instead, Congress is pursuing objectives that have very little support — all in an effort to appease the anti-gun Minority Leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer of New York.

Sen. Schumer already shut down the government once because Republicans didn’t agree to giving citizenship to millions of potential anti-gun voters in places like Texas.

Schumer did this even though fewer than 30% of Americans want to give amnesty to DACA illegals (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).

Nevertheless, just turn on the news and you’ll see that this issue is what’s front-and-center on Congress’ agenda for the next few weeks — again, thanks to the persistence of Chuck Schumer.

By the way, have you ever wondered why Schumer feels so strongly about this?

The answer is that, if 1.8 million “dreamers” and perhaps millions of their relatives are given American citizenship and the vote, there’s a pretty good chance that Texas, Florida, Arizona, and many other states will turn “deep blue” — probably sooner rather than later.

If that happens, the Second Amendment will be a dead letter.

You remember what happened when Ronald Reagan signed the Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty bill in 1986?  Three million illegals — mostly in California — turned that state from “orange” to deep, deep (anti-gun) blue.

So gun grabbers in Congress favor amnesty because it means new voters in the next election who will vote for anti-gun Democrats.

This strategy was recently admitted by the (misnamed) Center for American Progress — although we already knew from previous polling that illegals will vote for anti-gun Democrats at a rate of 8-to-1.

You have to give it to anti-gun Democrats, they’re horribly wrong when it comes to the Second Amendment. But they’re committed to their cause — enough so that they’re even willing to shut down the government.

Oh that pro-gun Republicans would fight with similar zeal for constitutional issues!

We need to keep gun rights before them. Go to their Town Hall meetings … write them … call them … tell them that you want Constitutional Carry-friendly reciprocity right away!

I realize that we’ve asked you quite a bit recently.

For the past four months, we’ve been busy fighting alligators that, predictably, crawled out of the swamp to exploit the most recent tragedies.

And all of these are seminal fights.  But we can’t neglect to remind them to go on the offense regarding concealed carry.

So please urge your Senators to support a pro-gun agenda and to get a clean concealed carry reciprocity bill (S. 446) on the President’s desk.

Thank you for taking action.

Sincerely,

Michael Hammond
Legislative Counsel

P.S. S. 446 has the support of over a third of the Senate. We can’t let it sit in committee any longer. Please contact your Senators to pass this bill — our pre-written letter is tailored for a Republican or Democrat Senator automatically!
