Parolee Escapes from Police, Gets Shot by Armed Female Homeowner

On May 11 a Redding CA woman shot a male parolee whom deputies were pursuing when he allegedly charged the woman.

The parolee–Dillon Carmelo–“was on parole for a weapons charge and is a 290 registrant who was wearing a GPS device issued by the parole department.”

According to KRCR News, Carmelo was first confronted by deputies shortly after 9 a.m., following reports that he was “acting bizarre and possibly under the influence of a controlled substance.” The deputies noted Carmelo’s erratic behavior and that he kept reaching for his pockets as if going for a gun. They held him at gunpoint but he somehow managed to escape.
