A statement from GOA’s Executive Director Erich Pratt:

“Gun laws do not make people safer. The Florida shooting exposed the failure of gun control in Florida. And so did this week’s shooting in Maryland — where a kid bypassed all the draconian gun laws in his state by stealing a handgun, which would be classified under federal legislation as a so-called ‘assault weapon,’ and bringing it to school.

“What did stop the Maryland shooter? A school resource officer with a gun. And speaking of police, Gun Owners of America agrees with the 81% of police officers nationwide who believe that teachers and principals should be armed in the schools. That will stopmass shootings overnight.”
