GOA Takes Virginia’s “Assault Weapons” Ban to Court … Again
THIS WEEK IN THE FIGHT FOR YOUR 2A RIGHTS!
Here’s what you may have missed this week in the fight for the Second Amendment…
This week, GOA headed back to court in Virginia to fight the state’s so-called “assault weapons” ban…
Also, Montana AG Austin Knudsen announced that MT Republicans are working to roll back their NFA restrictions to align with GOA’s recent victory…
And, GOA spent the past week telling the story of the armed bystander in Oregon who stopped a mass murderer to the news media and defending against anti-gun misinformation.
GOA has been busy this week.
You deserve an update.
Recently,
This week, Gun Owners of America’s legal team appeared in court in Virginia to argue our case for a full statewide injunction on VA’s so-called “assault weapons” ban.
Our legal team made their case to the Judge, and we’re excited to see what happens next.

Next, Montana AG Austin Knudsen is standing with GOA and working to roll back the state’s restrictive NFA compliance laws.
In a recent post, the AG announced that he was hard at work with Montana Republicans on a bill that would repeal all Montana state laws requiring an ATF Form 4 tax stamp for suppressors and short barreled firearms.
This would bring Montana in line with the rest of the country, who thanks to GOA’s recent lawsuit, can enjoy these items without the burdensome registration and taxation requirements of the National Firearms Act.

And finally, GOA made a series of media appearances this week, to push back on the gun control narrative after the recent tragedy in Oregon.
Anti-gunners left out a crucial fact in their reporting, the attack in Oregon was stopped by an armed bystander.
WE’RE IN COURT, FIGHTING AGAINST VIRGINIA!
This week, Gun Owners of America’s legal team appeared in court in Virginia to argue our case for a full statewide injunction on VA’s so-called “assault weapons” ban.
Our legal team made their case to the Judge, and we’re excited to see what happens next.
Virginia, along with a few other states, is at the center of a legal fight to determine if states can ban these items under the Second Amendment.
We know the answer is no.
The Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments in a similar case, Viramontes v. Cook County, this December.
This fight, and our fight against Virginia are all steps in the right direction.
We’re going to dismantle tyranny across this country and make sure that Americans have access to their Second Amendment rights!
MONTANA CONFIRMS STATE NFA ROLLBACK!
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen recently announced that he is working with Republican legislators on a bill to repeal all Montana state laws requiring ATF Form 4 tax stamps for suppressors, and short-barreled firearms.
This follows GOA’s massive victory in court striking down the registration requirements for these items.
There are a number of states around the country that have state level laws requiring registration on NFA items with ATF.
This has created a massive headache for gun owners in these states, who are excited about the NFA win, but cannot participate because of antiquated state laws.
This is a massive step forward for Montana, and GOA is working to ensure that other states follow in these types of actions.
Americans around the country want to access their Second Amendment rights, state legislators, AGs and Governors nationwide should take notice and work to abolish these unconstitutional laws!
GOA FIGHTS GUN CONTROL NARRATIVE IN MEDIA!
In the aftermath of the recent tragedy in Oregon, anti-gun lobbying groups and the politicians they fund were out in force calling for gun control.
But there’s one thing that didn’t fit their narrative.
This tragedy was stopped by an armed bystander.
Not the police, not any law, but a good Samaritan, who was armed and in the right place at the right time.
Here’s what we said:
“Democrats are shamefully weaponizing this tragedy in Oregon to advance their political agenda on gun control,” Aidan Johnston, director of federal affairs for Gun Owners of America, told Fox News Digital.
“But more gun control isn’t the solution. The school was a gun-free zone, and the killer didn’t use a so-called ‘assault weapon.’ What did stop the mass murderer and save lives was an armed bystander with good aim.”
Gun free zones are magnets for these types of attacks.
That’s why GOA is hard at work to abolish gun free zones entirely, and pass legislation allowing for teachers to carry firearms.
