Gov. Sununu Stands Strong and Vetoes Gun Confiscation!

We have sent several alerts on HB 687 — the no-Due Process gun confiscation bill. And I’m happy to report that yesterday, August 7, Governor Sununu stood strong and protected Second, Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights by vetoing HB 687.

Through the entire legislative process, GOA has urged the defeat of this ill-advised bill.

HB 687 was a hyper-partisan bill that passed without a single Republican vote. The civil liberties violations were so egregious that a few Democrats even voted NO.

GOA’s Alan Rice went on Guns & Gadgets this past Tuesday to rally gun owners and urge them to contact the Governor. Of course, this was in addition to all of GOA’s other efforts to generate messages into Sununu’s office — phone calls and emails in opposition to HB 687.

By vetoing HB 687, Governor Sununu kept his perfect Second Amendment record intact.  To be sure, he has vetoed every single word of gun control that the radical, leftist legislature has sent him. And when COVID-19 hit, he designated the firearms industry as “essential.”  He has been a solid friend of the Second Amendment.

Here are but a few of the most serious infringements that have been vetoed by Gov. Chris Sununu:

  • HB 1660, elder care gun confiscation;
  • HB 514, buy a gun but wait a week to bring it home;
  • HB 564, gun free, criminal safe schools;
  • HB 109, sell a gun to a friend and go to jail.

Governor Sununu has repeatedly, without exception, stood by Article 2a of the New Hampshire Constitution and the Second Amendment to the US Constitution.  So please thank Governor Sununu (above) for standing up for freedom, liberty and the rights of New Hampshire citizens.

GOA Legislative Counsel Mike Hammond said it best: “This is a wonderful time to be a New Hampshire resident. Governor Sununu has stood with the Second Amendment and with Granite Staters who value freedom over tyranny.”
