Supreme Court to Consider GOA’s Concealed Carry Case on June 6th

There is good news concerning our lawsuit against New York’s misnamed “Concealed Carry Improvement Act” (CCIA).

We’ve mentioned previously our legal challenge against this tyrannical law, and by the looks of it, we might just get our chance before the U.S. Supreme Court very soon!

So, if you can, please make a contribution to our Legal Defense Fund to ensure we have every resource we need to KEEP WINNING THE FIGHT against Kathy Hochul’s concealed carry restrictions.

In case you’re unfamiliar, here’s a little info to get you up to speed on the CCIA. In July of 2022, the Supreme Court decision in the Bruen case ended New York’s arbitrary “May-Issue” licensing standard for conceal carry permitting. This should have brought them towards a “Shall-Issue” standard — meaning authorities shall issue a license upon specific criteria being met.

It was only a few days later that the New York Legislature and Governor Hochul passed and signed into law the “Concealed Carry Improvement Act,” adding mandatory classroom training time, disclosure and review of the applicant’s social media accounts, and a long list of places reducing where you could legally carry a firearm — if you were even lucky enough to receive a permit.

Later that fall, in October of 2022, we secured a Temporary Restraining Order on the CCIA. And by December 2023, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed a federal injunction against other portions of the CCIA.

Next week, big news in the battle against New York’s Conceal Carry Improvement Act will come when the Supreme Court meets on June 6th to consider hearing our case.

So again, if you can, please make a contribution to our Legal Defense Fund to ensure we have every resource we need to KEEP WINNING THE FIGHT against Kathy Hochul’s concealed carry restrictions.

There are three possibilities that could result: The Court could decide to hear our case, or not hear our case, or postpone this decision on whether or not they will hear it. Regardless, we will keep you updated.

GOA and our legal team will continue fighting to repeal the CCIA until New York stands free from all gun control measures impeding the rights of citizens in this state.

Thank you for your continued support of GOA and your firm resolve in defending the Second Amendment. And please continue to stay informed by browsing our Press Center page for further updates.
