VIDEO: El Paso Residents Speak Out Against Gun Control

Austin, TX — In response to the first meeting of the Texas Safety Commission, El Paso residents are speaking up to reject calls for gun control in a new video.

“These members of the El Paso community know that gun control is not the answer,” Rachel Malone, Texas Director of Gun Owners of America (GOA) stated. “Texans do not need red flag laws, universal background checks, or any other form of gun control; but we do need the freedom to defend ourselves that comes with permitless carry.”

Stephen Willeford, the hero of the Sutherland Springs shooting who used an AR-15 to stop the killer, will be present at the Safety Commission today. Willeford recently denounced calls for gun controls like red flag laws. “We don’t want any more restrictions. It does not stop the bad guys,” he said.

Willeford is joined by many El Paso residents who strongly support the right to keep and bear arms. For example, Hector Blanco urged his state representative to reject restrictions on the Second Amendment, stating, “[Gun control] only hurts us law-abiding citizens. Criminals do not obey gun control laws — they find a way to get guns and break those laws.”

James Peinado, leader of El Paso’s chapter of Open Carry Texas, agreed. “We need to realize that evil can pop up anywhere, and we should be prepared to defend ourselves. Texans are safest when their ability to carry guns is affirmed rather than hampered.”
